SSI Shark Ecology Specialty Course
The Shark Ecology Specialty Course is offered FREE with the Eco-Divemaster Internship.
Sharks are in trouble and need our help - will you help our friends the sharks?
Sharks are crucial to marine ecosystems. They maintain a balance in populations of prey species and keep the ocean healthy by removing ill or diseased animals. They are an important resource supporting local economies through fishing and as an attraction to dive tourists.
But sharks are in a global decline. Overfishing has reduced many shark populations around the world to levels that threaten their continued existence. Shark numbers have fallen by more than 80% in many cases, and the continued existence of some species is at immediate risk in some regions.
Many people fear sharks, but these awe-inspiring fish are vital for healthy oceans and are truly amazing to dive with! Join the SSI Shark Ecology specialty program to learn all about sharks and how to dive safely with them.
FACTS AND TRAINING STANDARDS:
In the SSI Shark Ecology program, you will learn how to interpret shark behaviours, why they are often misunderstood and how dive with sharks.
This is a perfect course for shark fans and for divers who are nervous about sharks but want to overcome their fear. Upon completion of this program, you will earn your SSI Shark Ecology Specialty certification and no doubt become an avid shark diver.
